A Solid Foundation of Academic Excellence...
Mt. Carmel Christian Academy was founded in 1976 as a ministry of Mt. Carmel Regular Baptist Church. Although we are a ministry of Mt. Carmel Regular Baptist Church, we are a self-supporting educational institution financed by the tuition of students, fundraisers, and gifts from those who appreciate the ministry at MCCA. Any gift to the academy is tax-deductible and goes solely to the academy.
Mt. Carmel Christian Academy has programs for preschool through twelfth grade students. It is a private Christian school and a vital ministry of Mt. Carmel Regular Baptist Church. "Educating the Total Child" is our motto; hence, our goal is to "grow" our students academically, emotionally, physically, socially, and spiritually. Our average student-to-teacher ratio is 12:1. By offering small class sizes, Mt. Carmel Christian Academy is better able to assist students on an individual basis, thus helping each child to flourish.
The curriculum at MCCA is Bible-based. We have the wonderful privilege to be able to pray with and for our students at any time. In addition, we have dynamic, weekly age-appropriate chapels for all of our students. During our chapel time, students and faculty come together to worship the Lord, to learn more about Him, and to learn to serve Him and others better. Praise and worship music, prayer, and testimonies are regular components of our chapels, while the chapel speakers may be one of our faculty or pastors, a visiting pastor, a missionary, or a singing group.
A normal day at MCCA begins with a morning assembly which includes a verse recitation, pledges, announcements, a song, and prayer. Students then return to their classrooms for Bible class if it is not chapel day.
To help our students develop serving hearts, MCCA provides many service opportunities. Among other things, we participate in nursing home visitation; food collections for families with needs, the Life Center of Page County, and Page One; money and supply drives for children with leukemia, orphans in the Dominican Republic, hurricane victims in the Philippines, and pastors in Zambia; breakfast for veterans and their spouses; and lunch to honor local pastors.
Individual Tutoring
For a student having academic difficulty, we arrange individual help whenever possible.
Extra Curricular
MCCA offers a wide variety of extra curricular activities. We are members of the Virginia Association of Christian Athletes (VACA) and we offer middle school, junior varsity, and/or varsity volleyball, basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, cross country, and cheerleading whenever possible. Our kindergarten through fifth-grade students participate in music and art classes at least once a week.
College and Career Preparation
MCCA meets all of the State of Virginia's standards for graduation. Our average student graduates with twenty-eight credit hours. Our graduates have been accepted into such colleges and universities as the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, Liberty University, James Madison University, George Mason, US Merchant Marine Academy, Louisiana State University, Longwood University, Ferrum College, Bryan College, LeTourneau University, Medical College of VA, Rutgers University, Bob Jones University, West Palm Beach University, Pensacola Christian College, and others.
